Ariel's underwater wonderland. The whole time I was creating it, I kept hearing in my head..."Go on and, kiss the girl",... accent included. If you've seen the movie, you know the song I'm talking about. This was a favorite show of mine when I was younger too, so I was thrilled to depict it with cake. To give Ariel a little more presence, I hand sculpted a clam shell and pearl out of fondant, for her to sit in. For the shell, I blended white and pink to give a realistic look. I also used fondant to sculpt the seaweed, all the shells, and the red coral. I loved how the 3 dimensional aspects and bright colors of everything really made it a wonderland. I dusted everything with a little shimmer as if the sun's rays we're dancing through the water. All the character's are plastic figurines, provided by the mother. Happy Birthday Sasha!
