Cubs Cap

"And he knocks it out of the park,..... It's a HOME RUN!" This fun Groom's cake was a surprise from the bride. She set up a whole table at the reception to showcase his love for the Cubs. How sweet is that?! I started with a stack of cakes and a knife, and began carving away until I had the dimensions of a baseball cap. I covered it in icing, smoothing it to get a perfect finish. I used dowels to imprint the "seams", and added a red fondant button on top. Lastly I shaped a piece of fondant to mimic the bill, adding "stitching" marks for realism. Then there was the Cubs logo. This was done with a lot of time, patience, and a tiny Exacto knife. To finish the look, the bride provided the home plate for it to sit on, and I provided "sand" (a mix of graham crackers and brown sugar) for her to sprinkle around the base, after it was set up. I included a piture she sent from the reception. You're amazing! Congratulations!
