Welcome Lil' Caddie

Fore!!!!.... or in this case, the fourth. On this cute baby shower cake, I put a "4" on the flag to show that this is the lucky Mom-to-be's fourth child,.... and first son. : ) Let's start at the top. The flag and ball are made of fondant, and I used a little rounding tool to make indents to mimic a real golf ball. I decorated the top with icing "grass", creating a fun golf course scene. Next was hand sculpting the fondant golf bag, my favorite part of the design. I painted the clubs with edible silver, and used toothpicks for the handles. "Welcome Lil' Caddie" was iced onto a fondant piece, and placed front and center. I covered the bottom tier with an argyle design, using white fondant for the triangles, and piping on blue stitches. It took a long time to create the pattern, and try to get all the stitching even,... but I loved how it turned out. Congratulations Katie!

Golf Cupcakes

Here are some cute cupcakes for a golf themed Baby Shower. I made the little flags out of fondant, wrote the initial with icing, and attached them to lollipop sticks. My favorite is the fondant golf ball sitting in a bed of green, icing grass. What a cute theme! Welcome little one!

Girly Skull and Cross Bones

I received a fun request for a Baby Shower cake,... Skull and Bones, but make it girly. After studying the invitation, here's what I came up with. The topper is made of fondant, and mimics the invitation design. I gave the fondant banner a little depth with a "wavy" motion. After all the stripes and polka dots were iced on, it seemed to be missing something. What to do with the top tier? Then it hit me,... hearts! Now it's complete!

Rockstar Baby Shower

Here's a non-traditional baby shower cake for a Mom who likes to have a little fun. "Born To Rock",... in honor of a Rockstar baby boy and the Mother who get's to "rock" him to sleep. I used a little knife to cut out shapes of guitars and a rocking chair. The guitars go all the way around the top tier, along with little silver dragees at the top of each. The fondant stars are painted with edible silver powder. The bottom tier is decorated with icing stripes in coordinating colors. Welcome to the Band, little Rockstar!

Pink and Black Cupcakes

These Triple Chocolate Cupcakes are iced with a yummy swirl of hot pink and white butterceam. I love this combination! I painted a little shimmer on each coordinating fondant flower. These were the perfect touch for a party with the ladies.
