It's my youngest son's birthday,...... time to Paw-ty! After loving our experience with my older son's birthday at the California Pizza Kitchen, we went back for another round of fun. Carson was so excited to finally get his own CPK Chef jacket, that the restaurant embroiders his name on. So cool!
With all the craziness in our family's life these past few months, apparently I lost my mind along the way,......... because I finally gave in and let the kids get a dog. However, there were two stipulations that all had to agree with: it's an outside dog, and I get to name her. Sounds fair, right?! The "outside" dog rule wasn't hard to agree with, now that we have 5+ acres for her to run around,... but Mom naming her was a little hard for the boys to swallow. Of course, I had to have a little fun with it. After throwing out names like Cupcake, Frosting, Pink Princess, Twinkle Toes, and having fun watching their skin crawl.,.... I finally landed on the perfect name, Macy. You see, in our family we have an ongoing battle between the boys and girls as to which store is the best, Macy's department store or Dick's Sporting Goods. To the point that the boys won't step foot in Macy's, and high tail it across the street to Dick's as soon as I stop the car. Looks like Mom got the last laugh. : ) Welcome, little Macy, to the family.
Now about the cake.................
Carson wanted his to be all about his new buddy, Macy. I hand sculpted her out of fondant, and brushed a little water on her nose to give it a realistic look. I just love the expression on her face, with her head tilted. The dog house, giant bone, and dog tag are also made of fondant. I iced little paw prints around the bottom layer to bring the theme together. Now take a real close look at the bowl of dog food. Remember the surprise on my older son's Star Wars cake? Well, we did it again. Carson pushed the green piece of dog food and we all rocked out to,..... yep, you guessed it,......."Who Let the Dogs Out - who, who, who?" Come on, sing it out loud! "Who Let the Dogs Out?".....Oh,..... Sorry for putting that song in your head all day. : ) Happy Birthday Son!
