Eagle Scout and Flag

What's more patriotic for a young man, than receiving his Eagle Scout award. So, in this design I included both the Eagle Scout medal and American flag. The cake design is all icing with four white, fondant stars. If you've seen the posting of my previous scout cake, you'll notice the same medal. It's all hand sculpted out of fondant. I used a toothpick to make the indentions on the ribbon, and to get the fine detailing on the eagle. The words on the "metal" pieces are done in royal icing, and then it's all painted with edible silver dust to give it a realistic appearance. I made the "metal" loops, chains, and knot out of fondant rolled out like a snake.

I was told that the anticipation of this cake was a big motivating factor to finish the Eagle requirements. That just made my day! The only request was to include the fondant Eagle Scout metal. I'm just thrilled with this design, and honored to be part of their recognition day. Congratulations Reagan and Ammon!

  2. Just wanted to say thanks for your pictures! I couldn't find a cake shop in my area that would make an Eagle Scout cake, so I decided to give it a try myself. I used your pictures as a guide and it came out great. I was the one that contacted you about ordering the medal part from you.
