And we're off to the races,... or at least to the party. This birthday girl celebrated her special day at the movies, viewing the film Secretariat. Her cake depicts the horse's Triple Crown victory back in 1973. Notice the flowers used: The Kentucky Derby's Red Rose, Belmont Stakes' White Carnation, and the Preakness Stakes' Black-eyed Susan. The sculpted fondant trophy was painted with edible gold and fashioned after the one at the Kentucky Derby. Secretariat's signature blue and white checkers adorn the top tier, while a racing scene is going on below. Each fondant horse was carefully cut out with a small knife. Although time consuming, so worth it in the end. Every detail helped to capture Secretariat's ultimate victory, the Triple Crown. Happy Birthday Kenna!
